Cannot Print A Credit Note - Sage 200

Modified on Wed, 05 Jul 2023 at 11:58 AM

Typically this is due to a user entering credit notes directly via the sales ledger's Enter Credit Note screen. These are financial entries on the account only, they cannot be printed.

To determine if this has been the case, look at Customer Transaction Enquiry, pick up the customer, and find your credit note. Does it have a source of Sales? If yes, this is a direct sales ledger credit note.

How Do I Correct?

You will need to click on the credit note, click the Correct button at the bottom, followed by Reverse on the next screen.

The screen may warn you if the transaction is currently allocated and ask if you want to unallocate it now, click Yes if so.

This takes you into the allocations screen. Click Reverse at the bottom, followed by 'Debit and Credit', followed by Save.

Now try the Reverse option again. This raises an invoice with the same value for you, adjust any references if necessary then save. This will allocate the reversing invoice to the credit note and cancel it out.

How Should I Raise Credit Notes That Need To Be Printed?

Please either raise a Sales Return via the SOP module, which will produce a printable credit note (if dealing with stock that needs to be returned into the system, this is usually the best way to handle).

Alternatively for 'free text' credit notes it is quicker for you to use the Invoicing module's Enter Credit Note facility, which can be printed using the 'Print Credit Note' option. See your Invoicing List.
